Our 2nd Annual Indian Market in Bernalillo, NM
Our First Indian Market in Bernalillo was widely received and very much appreciated by both artists and patrons. To insure this Spring market continues for years to come, This year’s “Teepee Celebration and Indian Market” will be held at Loretto Park in Bernalillo , which is right across the street from our first market. It is all grassed in, gives us space for up to 250 booths and has many electrical/water outlets as well as vendor parking. This will allow for many food trucks, demonstrators etc. The event will be widely advertised.
Setup and Space:
No, you don’t need a teepee…but if you have one let us know...we want to show it off!
We provide a 10 x 10 space. Exhibitors are responsible for providing their own tents, tables, chairs and other props. Keep everything within the 10 x 10 allowed space. There is electricity and water for a minimal charge.
For first time participants, applications can be sent by mail, e-mail, or brought to Sara’s Southwest Gallery, 264 S. Camino del pueblo in Bernalillo, mailed or e-mailed. (Mailing info is listed on the last page)
APPLICATION FEE: $35 each artist due on or before January 22 (non-refundable)
late fee $75, due January 29, 2018 (postmark)
BOOTH FEE: $250.00 one artist, $300, two artists- due on or before March 19, 2018 (postmark)

Applications for consideration by the jury must be postmarked no later than JANUARY 22, 2018. Don’t forget to include your $35 application fee (nonrefundable). Late Fee will be $75 and must be postmarked no later than JANUARY 29, 2018.
The Jury Committee will review all applications. You must submit three (3) images of your work either by e-mail, by images as shown on a web site or link you are associated with, or on disc or memory stick. The image files must be in JPEG format and no larger than 1280 pixels on the longest dimension. File sizes must be no larger than 2 MB. If you want to submit images of a higher resolution, email them to firstname.lastname@example.org or send them on a CD or memory stick with this application. Include the same information about your artwork as requested below. Label the entry with your name and date. The quality of the images you submit is critical: the better the images, the better your chance of being accepted into the Market. ‘Juried’ means you must submit quality photographs which are reviewed by a jury (a knowledgeable committee) and your work will be accepted into the show based on technical skill, creativity, the medium, and/or other requirements. Your art must be created within the last two years and must be done by you.
Neither Sara’s Southwest llc. nor the Town of Bernalillo is liable for any theft or damage to an artist’s merchandise or personal property. Sara’s Southwest, the Town of Bernalillo and the “Teepee Celebration and Indian Market” event staff, agents, representatives and volunteers will not be held responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged property of exhibitors, their representatives, customers or any other person and/or injury to any person participating in this event for any reason.
Contracts will be mailed to accepted artists starting February 19, 2018. If your work is selected, the booth fee will be due by March 12, 2018. Keep in mind we can accept only 250 booths...after that you will be put on a waiting list.
10x10 space…one artist $250, limit of two artists $300
Up to two artists can share a space. Each artist must be juried in
separately and submit a separate application and $35 fee.
Spaces assigned are on a first come, first serve basis so be prompt with payment. Signed Contracts and Booth Fees must be postmarked no later than March 19, 2018. If payment is not received by then a late fee of $75 (plus your booth fee) must be received (postmarked) by March 26. After that you will be on a waiting list.
Artists are to sell only fine artwork they have created. “fine artwork” is defined as art forms that include painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, mosaics, calligraphy, metalwork, mixed media and other visual arts. As an example; pottery thrown individually for beauty can be judged to be fine art as opposed to mass produced identical pots from a single design. No selling of store bought items will be permitted nor items assembled from kits. No wholesalers or group marketing is allowed. If collaborating with another artist you must notify us. Please refer to our Jury guidelines for classifications for your art form.
Reasons for non-selection:
Non-selection for an event can be due to any one of the following reasons: (a) The request was received too late to be juried prior to the show. (b) The jury decided the work itself did not represent fine artwork as described above. The images submitted are of poor quality.
Refunds or show credits:
Refunds or show credits will not be granted if an accepted artist cannot participate in a show and fees have already been received.
And, yes, we will have judging for prize awards, we will have Fry Bread, we will have Native Food trucks... We promise! Thank you and we hope to welcome you to our 2018 “Teepee Celebration and Indian Market” in Bernalillo.
